Delicate Batteries

I purchased a piece of electronic equipment (a wireless microphone for those of you who must know) and the manufacturer was kind enough to include batteries. This is how they were packaged inside of other packaging. Since you can barely make them out, I will tell you that they are two Energizer AA batteries. They aren't even the Max or Lithium variety. Just two everyday batteries. The packaging department protected $.50 worth of batteries with approximately $2.00 with of bubble wrap. Maybe I've just been lucky with batteries in the past and should start exercising such care with them from now on.

In order for you to truly appreciate how well these batteries were protected, I present the same packaging from a side view.

Enough with the Plywood Already

I was rummaging through some old photos and came across this one that I took while in San Francisco (click to enbiggen). There are several things to enjoy here. First, the picture doesn't provide much in the way of scale; that banner is approximately 4 feet by 25 feet. Second, who would spend that kind of money on such an enigmatic sign? Finally, I can see concrete, planks, and aluminum studs but I really don't see much in the way of plywood here.

The Litigious Society Has Finally Won

Bat brings us yet another sight to behold.

I've heard of covering your butt but this is too much... please don't slip and fall in our parking lot. I'm no expert but the water currently falling from the sky may make the ground wet.

Perhaps the Worst Place for a Ruler

There is a hotel chain that employs a north-woodsie lodge motif. The have carved bears, kitschy signs and fishing accoutrements throughout the entire place. We have one of these hotels in our area and I was recently had some training there. At some point I had to use the facilities. Above the urinal you may notice a ruler (click to enbiggen).

This has something for both sexes. Men: even though the ruler is about a foot long, the numbers approach 36 inches. Women: on the left side it says "throw back" and on the right side it says "keeper". The only thing keeping this from being blatantly sexual is that it is label "Fisherman's Ruler", though I suspect it was actually a brilliant practical joke by the decorator.

The Danger of Taking the Bible Literally

TMDA presents us with another great one.

While I clearly love to lampoon things like this, I also try to be accurate. In researching this particular product and Bible passage, I found an article by Jim Walker that does such a thorough job, I have nothing to add. For the first time in What The Foto history, I am deferring to another's wit. Please to enjoy:

If you would like to read the passages for yourself, you are welcome to...

Close The Door!!!

Dr. "The Original Chip" Mac, esq. presents the latest post (click to enbiggen).

I saw this sign on the inside of the bathroom door in an apartment type building. It should be noted that the bathroom opens into the main hallway of the ground floor of this building very near the main entrance. There was a substantial amount of foot traffic passing by this doorway. With that in mind - do we really need to be reminded to shut the door as we One or Two? Also, by placing the sign on the back of the door, the only people who will see the sign, are those who have already closed it. Those who leave it open won't be able to see the sign. That's all.
